About the Instructor

My name is Greg Summers. I am based in Central Florida and have been playing guitar for 22 years and teaching guitar for 18 years. By day I am a network administrator for a satellite processing company and teach guitar on the side. Initially I started creating a dedicated teaching website but gravitated toward Podcasts. This came as a result of purchasing a video iPod. Within a few days I found myself addicted to Podcasts and quickly discovered an opportunity to publish content and publish it fast. At this point I rarely listen to music on my iPod and focus primarily on Podcasts.

My goal at this point is to provide real world examples that you can use right now. Sure, there are plenty of resources out there that will offer traditional guitar lessons, but I wanted a way that I could do this in my spare time and keep costs down. A lot of time is spent with the current content provided. From transcribing, shooting video/recording audio, to editing all of the content, each lesson takes around 6 hours to complete.

I love the idea of keeping Podcast content free of charge, so I have placed a donation link on the site. At some point in the future when I have more content accumulated, I will also be offering archive CDs/DVDs or downloadable archived content available for a small fee. By no means is anyone obligated to donate, but any help is appreciated to keep things going. Donations will definitely help to keep content free. Please provide any feedback here for comments and suggestions.

Thanks,Signature

About Podcasts

What are podcasts?

A podcast is a multimedia file that is distributed by subscription over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. At least that is wikipedia's definition.

What it means to me:

A podcast is an excellent method for delivering multimedia content without all of the hassle of involving uneeded people. In my spare time I am able to enjoy the instant gratification of seeing my lessons published and with iTunes being a major contributing factor in delivering content, it is simple to get the word out. That is my take on it so other 'podcasters" may feel differently.

Podcasts at the moment, are free (unless iTunes decides to change things) through iTunes, but you do not need iTunes to enjoy podcasts. The term podcast has nothing to do with iPod. You can get them here or through other podcatching applications.

I will be posting lesson content (sound loops, etc.) soon that you can purchase for a very small fee.  We also accept donations through PayPal.  Any help is appreciated and will keep things going.  Each episode takes me a considerable amount of time to create.  I do these lessons on top of my everyday career job and side job of private guitar instructor.  Teaching for me has always been one of my passions and I hope that you can get as much out of them as I get from creating them.  Please email me with any suggestions or questions and I will do my best to get back to you.
